Titanium Grade 5
Common Trade Names: 6-4 Titanium, 6-4, Ti 6-4; Titanium Grade 5; Titanium 6AL4V
Titanium Grade 5 is designated as UNS UNS R56400 is the most widely used titanium grade. It is a two phase α + β titanium alloy, with aluminum as the alpha stabilizer and vanadium as the beta stabilizer. This high-strength alloy can be used at cryogenic temperatures to about 800°F (427°C). Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is used in the annealed condition and in the solution treated and aged condition.
Properties:
- has good tensile properties at ambient temperature and a useful creep resistance up to 300°C (570°F)
- Resistance to fatigue and crack propagation is excellent
- Grade 5 has outstanding resistance to corrosion in most natural and many industrial process environments
- The ability to age harden this alloy makes it a good choice for such applications as springs and fasteners
Typical Application:
- Aerospace
- Surgical Implants
- Jewellery
- Chemical
- Springs
- Bolts
Product Forms:
- Sheets, Strips, Plates
- Round bars, hexagon, Flat bar
- Pipes, tubes
- Wires
